Thirteen primary schools in the Catholic Diocese of Parramatta will receive a total of $28 million in funding as part of the first round of the Federal Government’s Primary Schools for the 21st Century.

Primary Schools for the 21st Century (P21) is part of the Federal Government’s $14.7 billion Building the Education Revolution Plan to construct and refurbishment school infrastructure.

The Minister for Education, Julia Gillard MP announced today that 410 New South Wales schools will receive over $640 million in funding under round one of the Primary Schools for the 21st Century (P21) program.

Executive Director of Schools, Greg Whitby said that the Federal Government's Building the Education Revolution plan is a sound investment in schools and therefore Australia's future.

‘We know quality learning and teaching is enhanced and supported by contemporary learning environments; the P21 funding will allow our primary schools to build or refurbish spaces that are truly 21st century.’

‘Our system is on track to meet the timelines and our schools are working to maximise the learning opportunities created by the Building the Education Revolution.’

Holy Family Primary, Emerton - one of the 13 successful schools announced today will use its P21 funding to build an environmentally sustainable multi-purpose hall.

Principal of Holy Family Primary, Sr Brenda Kennedy said the new hall will enable their school community to gather under one roof for the first time.

‘We are looking forward to this space becoming the focal point of learning and celebration for all members of our community’, Sr Brenda said.
