Pat Mervin, principal of Our Lady of the Rosary Primary, Kellyville has been recognised for Excellence in Teaching by Castle Hill Rotary Club.

The Excellence in Teaching awards are presented annually and provide an opportunity for students, parents, peers and the general community to nominate teachers who have demonstrated an outstanding capacity to educate students in a caring, empathetic and responsible manner.

The prime purpose of this program is to particularly recognise professionals who have gone beyond the teacher/student relationship to provide every opportunity for student development.

Mrs Mervin was honoured to have received the award, recognising how many excellent teachers there are in our schools.

‘I have been privileged to be in the education profession since 1961 and I have achieved more than I ever thought possible due to the support and encouragement of many people - colleagues, mentors and family. For me this award is an acknowledgement of the importance of education and the excellent work being done daily in our schools,’ said Mrs Mervin.
