The 2012 Higher School Certificate written exams commence today with all students sitting English Paper 1 at 1.50pm this afternoon.

This year, a record number of 73,375 students are enrolled in HSC courses with more than 2,600 from the Parramatta diocese. The HSC is the highest education achievement in secondary education in NSW, with the written exams accounting for up to 50 per cent of most students’ final results.

Final exams will take place on Thursday 8 November.

In a special video message, the executive director of schools, Greg Whitby wishes Year 12 students the best for their exams and future endeavours, reminding them of the great gift of Catholic schooling.

‘Your years at school are not just to achieve the Higher School Certificate or attain an ATAR,’ said Greg. ‘As beneficiaries of a quality Catholic education, you are now on a mission to make the world a better place and to bring the Catholic world view to bear on what you do no matter where you go in the future.’

Best wishes and good luck to all of our HSC students.
