On Wednesday 25 July, Good Shepherd Primary, Plumpton started the new term with a special mass and morning tea to officially welcome the school’s new principal, Tricia Carr.

Tricia has taken up the principalship of Good Shepherd. Former principal, Mary Creenaune who led the school since 2005, is taking up a position in the Catholic Education Office as co-project leader of the Making Diversity the Norm project, an initiative aimed at supporting students with disabilities by enhancing and extending practice within the Parramatta Diocese to meet student learning needs.

Tricia, who has served as principal of St Oliver’s Primary, Harris Park for the last three years, said she is looking forward to working with the school community.

‘I look forward to building on the work of Mary Creenaune who has done extraordinary  work with Good Shepherd,’ said Tricia. ‘The students and staff have been very supportive and welcoming and I am excited about working with this vibrant and caring school community,’

The students have been enthusiastic in welcoming their new principal with school captains, Mary-Pearl Chung and Aram El-Awar creating a PowerPoint presentation to ‘induct’ their new principal into school life.

'Good Shepherd is a very open, friendly and brilliant school,’ said Mary-Pearl. ‘All of the students are sociable, well-mannered and extremely helpful and you will no doubt find that we may be the best school you’ve ever been to!’

Following the mass, students, staff and parents gathered for a morning tea providing an opportunity for Tricia to get to know the school community.

‘It has really been lovely,’ Tricia said.
