On Thursday 26 July, St Anthony's Primary, Girraween celebrated the gift of grandparents with a special mass and concert coinciding with the feast of Saints Joachim and Anne, the parents of Mary and grandparents of Jesus.

The day began with mass celebrated by Fr Paul Marshall EV, who shared memories of his own grandparents and led the school in a special blessing for grandparents everywhere. Following the mass, students, staff and special guests shared a barbeque lunch.

The day's celebrations concluded with a 'Classic Hits' concert with each grade performing a song from the 50's, 60's or 70's.  The music of the Beatles, Louis Armstrong and the Jackson Five all brought back memories for the grandparents present; their enjoyment clearly evident in the clapping, foot tapping, and hugs for performers after the concert.
