Do you think 40km/hr school zones should be operation all day?

On Wednesday 28 March, the Sydney Morning Herald (SMH) reported that a recently released report from the Staysafe inquiry into school-zone safety recommends the state government examine extending the hours of operation for school zones.

In NSW the 40km/h speed limit is enforced around school starting and closing times, from 8am to 9.30am and from 2.30pm to 4pm on school days however in some other states longer hours of operation for school zones are already in place.

In their submission, representatives from the Australasian College of Road Safety argued in favour of extending school zone operating hours because schools did not attract children only during class hours but throughout the day and sometimes on weekends.
