Catherine McAuley students shine in 2017 HSC

19/12/2017
Catherine McAuley Westmead students enjoyed outstanding results once again in the 2017 HSC. Principal Laetitia Richmond is particularly pleased that students continue to perform extremely well in Vocational Education and Training courses.

“These young women have worked so hard, and with such passion,” Laetitia said. “I also want to thank our dedicated teachers for the expertise they share with students.”

Student Emma Grant was very excited to achieve First in Course in NSW in the Hospitality Examination. She strongly recommends that students considering HSC subject choices be guided by their interests.

“You’ve got to do the subjects you enjoy,” Emma said. “The key to success is to have fun with it.”

Emma has already been offered a place to study media and marketing at Macquarie University through the Global Leadership Entry Program. However, she is also seriously considering the possibility of studying veterinary science.

For the third consecutive year, Catherine McAuley Westmead students were named as HSC Honour Roll “Top Achievers” (top ten students in NSW) in the Business Services examination. Patricia Koubersi and Caitlin Ram came 5th and 9th in the course in NSW respectively in 2017 and their teachers Lisa Allen, Taryn Grima and Poonam Relan are feeling exhilarated.

“Our students have all achieved personal bests and it is great to see this reflected in their results,” Lisa said. “We are also proud of our continuous success.”

“Their results really are a reflection of the level of effort they have put in over these two years,” Taryn said. “It just goes to show that as well as providing invaluable workplace skills, Business Services students can also achieve great academic success.”

As the top performing student at Catherine McAuley Westmead, Judita Hudson also has a bright future. Judita’s application to her studies resulted in an ATAR of 99.7. She was also named a “Premier AllRounder” with Band 6 results across all courses. Judita scored 100 in her Mathematics exam and was named and a “Top Achiever” through the HSC Honour Roll.
