Diocesan School Building Levy
How the levy works
The Diocesan School Building Levy is collected at the systemic school attended by the eldest student in the family. All revenues from the levy are pooled and used to meet the costs of annual payments of principal on those school building loans taken over from parishes from 1 January 1997, and one-off cash contributions and annual loan payments (debt servicing) associated with all new building projects approved by the Parramatta Diocesan Catholic Schools Council.
Projects are funded by way of loans through the Diocesan Development Fund, which also assists in the administration of the NSW Government interest subsidy scheme for the diocese.
Annual Statement
The continuing success of the Diocesan School Building Levy has enabled the Parramatta Diocesan Catholic Schools Council to implement its policy to bring all schools up to the levels established by the Bishops of NSW, based on Australian Government standards.
The current construction program totals $232m of projects planned for construction between 2011 and 2020. For the current report of building projects and debt servicing see the annual statement below.
