About the Precinct

The Catholic Education Precinct is being established to accommodate current and future growth in the Westmead area, and the increasing demand for Catholic education. The precinct is based on contemporary educational and design principles including:

  • a commitment to improving learning outcomes for all students
  • the creation of environments that will foster innovative learning and teaching strategies
  • prudent stewardship by sharing of facilities and resources, where practicable
  • the application of the best we know and understand about learning in today’s world

Learning is collaborative, personalised, relational and interactive…connected to others…to real world…to other learning communities…celebrated…has relevance and relationship to the life of the learner

to great learning spaces

Learning spaces are flexible, multi-functional …include spaces for social interaction…are varied (e.g. indoor/outdoor)…are accessible to students/community outside traditional school hours…have K-12 connections…have space to showcase student work…are ICT-rich…are connected to the contemporary world…are comfortable, welcoming and stimulating

Consultation process

A consultation process has been undertaken during 2007/2008 including:

 

  • analysis of areas and functionality with school and system leadership
  • school, parish, congregational, diocesan and system leadership engaged to determine planning principles and parameters
  • discussions with architects and specialist consultants
  • discussions with stakeholders for adjacent developments
  • consultation with school-based working groups to determine final master plan
