Reconciliation Week 2020: A Commitment Statement for Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta
As a community of Catholic schools in Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains, we stand alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, our First Nation People.
We know this is Darug and Gundungurra Land - Sacred Land - Holy Land. We recognise the rich history, stories, and Dreaming of the Darug and Gundungurra people.
We accept that the disadvantage experienced by so many First Australians is the product of dispossession, powerlessness and the absence of opportunity.
We will work “for a fair and truthful relationship with the people of Australia and a better future for our children based on justice and self-determination” (Uluru State of the Heart 2019).

๐ฃ Caring for Creation, Learning for Life ๐ฟ๐ We believe that caring for Godโs creation is not just a responsibilityโitโs a calling. Thatโs why weโre so proud of the students from St Madeleine's Primary, Kenthurst and Marian Catholic College Kenthurst, who have begun a powerful five-week journey in environmental stewardship through the โCaring for Country โ Learning to Restore, Respect, and Regenerateโ program at Annangrove Environment Centre. ๐๐ Through this immersive Landcare Skills Program, students are learning firsthand how to protect and restore the environment. ๐ Look who's 100 DAYS smarter! ๐ฏโจ Our kindy kids have officially reached a HUGE milestone - 100 days of laughter, learning and growing together! ๐๐ They havenโt just gained knowledge, but also grown in confidence, kindness and curiosity. ๐ฑ๐ ๐ต๐ด Students came dressed as 100-year-olds in epic style, while others lit up the room in colourful outfits to show theyโre 100 days brighter! โญ๏ธ๐ง ๐Our Lady of the Way School, Emu Plains, St Matthew's Catholic Primary, Windsor, St Patrick's Guildford, St Bernadette's Lalor Park, Holy Cross Primary Glenwood, St Bernadette's Primary, Castle Hill, St Michael's Baulkham Hills, Chisholm Catholic Primary, St Joseph's Primary School, St Finbar's Primary, Glenbrook and Sacred Heart Primary School Mount Druitt are just a few of the schools who made their 100th day of Kindergarten one to remember! ๐ There were plenty of โ100โ themed activities and lots of fairy bread topped with 100s and 1000s to celebrate! ๐๐ ๐ A huge shoutout to the parents and teachers who got involved and made the day extra special for our little learners.
