This week, Brother Jeff Crowe, the coordinator of the Lavalla200> world-wide communities, visited Marist learning Zone. He reminded our staff that we are called to be game-changers for vulnerable young people.

As Pope Francis encouraged us in his recent World Mission Day message, we recognise the “personal dignity and intrinsic worth of every human life”. Brother Jeff’s visit strengthened our links with the world wide Marist family, and reminded us of our commitment to creating a vibrant inter-cultural community, here in Mount Druitt, Sydney’s most multicultural suburb.

๐ฃLIFTED: Real Talk, Big Faith, Bold Leadership โ The LIFTED Student Leaders Forum held this week saw Year 12 student leaders from around the Diocese represent their schools at the annual event, sharing their thoughts, opinions and experiences of Catholic education. ๐ญ๐ก ๐ค๐ฃThe students were also able to hear from a lead data science consultant from Fujitsu who presented an engaging session on Artificial Intelligence. They're off and racing! ๐๏ธAnd winning! ๐ฅ๐ Congratulations to St John XXIII Catholic College Stanhope Gardens' "Team Toretto" who finished 1st ๐๐ฅin NSW in the Australian National Finals in STEM Racing! The Year 10 students (Joahan, Nilan, Jaxon, Nihal) raced their cars against the best teams ๐in the country and presented their marketing and engineering plans with industry experts and judges. ๐ As well as their first-in-state finish, Team Toretto also came 2nd ๐ฅ in Grand Prix Racing (with the second fastest cars in Australia on consistency), 3rd ๐ฅin Net Lap Time, 4th in Gross Lap Time and 5th Overall in Points. ๐คฉ๐ Year 8 students from Parramatta Marist High School also showed off their competitive miniature F1 car racing skills at the event in Melbourne. ๐คฉ๐

Collaboration, creativity and catering combined! Year 9 Young Entrepreneurs and Food Technology ๐จโ๐ณ๐ฉโ๐ณstudents at Marian Catholic College Kenthurst recently worked on the final stages of their Food Truck Project. ๐๐ The students needed to work together๐คon designing a unique food truck concept, complete with marketing strategies, financial and operational plans. ๐ Each group then pitched their ideas ๐to a panel of Shark Tank-style judges in an attempt to secure โinvestment dollarsโ.๐ฐ And the best part was when they cooked the delicious menu items theyโd serve. ๐ฅ๐๐๐ฅYum! ๐ฅฐ
