Students at Delany Catholic College took part in Multicultural Day festivities
Students at Delany Catholic College Granville celebrated its rich diversity recently with annual Multicultural Day festivities.
In line with Refugee Week, students proudly wore traditional dress and baked cuisine from their own multicultural backgrounds.
The entire school and their families celebrated the occasion, with dance performances and a special guest speaker from Jesuit Refugee Service Australia, who spoke about their experience as a refugee.
Delany Collage's 400 students come from over 50 different birth countries, the most common being Lebanon, Tonga, Samoa and Africa, as well as Syria and Iraq.
Many students are refugees themselves and five students spoke at the special assembly about their own experiences coming to Australia.
Delany College Acting Principal Anthony Blomfield said it was a bright and colourful celebration of diversity.
"It was a great opportunity to celebrate our cultures and differences and for students to see you are one of many and not just by yourself," he said.
"It's important for students to have an opportunity to wear their nationality with pride."

🐝BUZZING with excitement about NAIDOC Week! ❤️🖤💛 Today marks the beginning of NAIDOC Week, an important celebration for our school communities. 🚁👮 Celebrating Police Legacy Day! 👮♀️🚁 Holy Family Primary Luddenham received a special visit from Police helicopter PolAir 3 along with local police from Nepean Police Area Command, in recognition of the inaugural Police Legacy Day held on June 17. 🚓✨ This day will be celebrated annually to honour our fallen officers and recognise the sacrifices made by police officers' families to keep our communities safe. 🙏💙 The students were excited to learn about the important work of the Aviation Command and how we can all stay safe in our community. Personalised mentoring ✅ Career coaching ✅ Support from dedicated ACU mentors✅ Over ten inspiring weeks, students from St Agnes CHS Rooty Hill received all these and more 😍as part of the Australian Catholic University's Ubuntu Mentoring Program. 🗣️👏 The Program fosters connection and belonging 🤝, particularly for South Sudanese students and students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, helping them unlock their potential and explore future pathways. 🙌😇 The program wrapped up with a special visit to ACU’s Blacktown campus, where students experienced university life first-hand 👍and envisioned their own futures 🤩in higher and other education. 🙏

🌟 Future educators in the making! 🌟 CSPD was proud to partner with RIEP to deliver the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Futures Program, hosted at St Andrew's College Marayong (Junior Campus) for the Blacktown LGA Cluster. Over 50 enthusiastic students from Years 10–12 - representing CathWest Innovation College, St Luke's Catholic College Marsden Park, St Andrew's College Marayong, Nagle College Blacktown and St Agnes Catholic High Rooty Hill - came together to discover the exciting world of early childhood education and out-of-school hours care (COSHC). 👶📚 ✨ Highlights of the day included: ✅ hands-on, play-based workshops exploring child development and early learning ✅ speed networking and Q&A with passionate educators and centre directors ✅ real opportunities for work experience and traineeships with local early learning centres.
