FEE SUPPORT DURING COVID-19 TIMES


Dear Parents and Carers

Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta (CEDP) is working hard to support the families in our communities who are struggling financially as a result of COVID-19. Our long standing principle is that no child will be disadvantaged because of a family's financial circumstances.

In 2020, CEDP helped more than 3000 families with COVID-19 fee relief. This is the reason why we made the decision not to raise our school fees for this year. We know more support for families who have lost their incomes will be needed in 2021.

Some members of our communities have asked whether there will be a discount on school fees for all families at CEDP schools in Term 3. I thought it was important to write to you to explain that rather than reducing fees for all families, we will continue to focus on helping those most impacted by the crisis.

As you would expect, excursions, incursions and similar event-based activities cancelled as a result of COVID-19 are being credited back to families. For those who had already paid for these activities, refunds can be provided or a credit can be carried forward for 2022 if preferred.

As always, any family experiencing hardship is encouraged to seek support by contacting their school principal for a confidential conversation. To make the process as fair as possible, requests for fee support will need some supporting documentation.

The switch to remote learning has also meant changes to the way that learning is delivered to students and this will often mean parents and carers being more involved in their children’ learning. At the same time, our teachers are dedicated to meeting the needs of their students in these challenging times. Their focus is to deliver quality learning and help their students in other ways too. Many schools are also contacting families to check-in but we strongly recommend reaching out as soon as you feel your child needs more help.

We are aware that many children are missing the interaction with their teachers and classmates. Their teachers are missing them too and looking forward to welcoming them when it is safe to do so. At the same time, schools have remained open during the lockdown for families who need this support (essential workers, vulnerable students, or those who are not at home and have no other supervision options).

Catholic schools in the Diocese of Parramatta are committed to providing an affordable quality Catholic education for families. We understand the financial demands placed on families and seek to keep the fees as low as possible. No child who meets the enrolment criteria will be refused enrolment or disadvantaged because of a family's financial circumstances.

There are significant Diocesean fee discounts for the second (25% reduction) and third (50% reduction) children enrolled from the one family. There are no Diocesan fees for the fourth and subsequent children.

 

If you have children in other Diocesan schools, please click on the Sibling Discount Applicable Schools attachment to see if a discount will be automatically applied.

If any of your children attend a school listed where a sibling advice notice is required, please complete and return the   Sibling Registration for Diocesan Tuition Fees form. Parents should advise as promptly as possible when this information changes.

Please note that for automatic discounts to apply the residential address on each enrolment form must be the same. It is up to parents to advise schools of other siblings in order to receive the discount. Please note that discounts are not backdated and discounts only apply whilst the students are enrolled at the same time.

 

 

 


Flexible Payment Options


There are a range of options available to assist families with the payment of fees.

Flexible payment options are offered to all families in Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Parramatta at the start of each year. This provides families with the opportunity to select a payment plan that best suits their financial circumstances. Payments can be made via direct debit or BPay on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis at no additional charge.

Note: Diocesan fees after your third child are free.

Please note that a term’s notice in writing must be given to the principal before the removal of a student or a full term’s fees will be payable.

Diocesan Building Levy

The Diocesan Building Levy enables us, through our capital works program, to meet the demand for new schools and new classes in high growth areas, and to continue to maintain all schools to a high standard. All families with one or more children in a Parramatta Diocesan school (or at St Dominic's College Kingswood) are required to pay the annual Diocese of Parramatta Diocesan Building Levy. Please note that this fee is not tax deductible.

Diocesan Education Fee Temporary Residents (DEFTR)

The DEFTR is $2016 and payable per each student on the following visa numbers:
173, 400, 401, 402, 405, 407, 408, 411, 415, 416, 417, 420, 457, 462, 476, 482, 485, 497, 580, 590, 600, 601, 651, 884, 944 including where any of these are the preceding visas for families on bridging visas 010 to 090.


 

 

School-Based Fees

Each school also charges fees that go toward resources that may include excursions, cost of buses, photocopying, utilities, maintenance of buildings and grounds, camps and reflection days.

 

 

Making Catholic education more affordable


CEDP offers scholarships and fee arrangements for families facing financial hardship.

If you are experiencing financial hardship and are unable to pay fees please discuss the situation with the school principal. Your situation will be treated with care, sensitivity and confidentiality.

Please note any approved refunds will be credited to the credit card used for the original transaction.
