New teacher Jaimee Pearson with students at her old school St Monica's Primary in Richmond.
New teacher Jaimee Pearson has done what many would dread, returning to her old primary school for her first job and turning her own teachers into colleagues.
The 25-year-old is the youngest of four generations to attend St Monica's Catholic Primary School in Richmond, a 150-year-old institution where her mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and countless cousins learned their reading. writing and arithmetic.
Teacher Helen Harper fondly recalls Jaimee in her Year 5 class.
"She was a quiet but very caring sort of student, so it doesn't surpise me at all that she's become a teacher," Mrs Harper said.
"It's the most beautiful little community"
Despite the "terrifying" prospect of her first full-time gig, Ms Pearson said returning to familiar territory eased some of her first-day nerves.
"I've always loved St Monica's," she said.
"It's incredibly nerve-racking, but the other teachers here have given me so much support."
Mum Frances Pearson said she wasn't surpised and "extremely proud" by her daughter's decision to return to the school as an employee.
