Year 12 student, Tataya Curry-Jones was recently a finalist in the NSW Training Awards Regional Finals, going on to be named Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year (2024).
Held on 21 June, the Western Sydney & Blue Mountains Training Awards presentation was the Regional final of the NSW Training Awards. Held annually, the aim of the Awards is to recognise outstanding achievement in the vocational education and training sector. The Awards honour and reward the achievements of students, trainers/teachers, registered training organisations and employers. These students were on a 'Mission To Busk'! ๐ถ๐ October is World Mission Month, a time for Catholics worldwide to come together and support global missionary work. This year, for their annual 'Mission to Busk' event the talented students at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Primary Wentworthville showcased some amazing talents and raised over $1800 for the Carmelite parishes of Raimea and Zumalai, home to their sister school in East Timor. ๐๐ Thank you to the families who joined them in this mission of love and support! ๐SUPERB SKILLS ON DISPLAY! ๐คฏ A number of CSPD VET students๐ฉโ๐ณ๐ทshowcased their skills at the 2024 Regional WorldSkills Competition held this week at CathWest Innovation College.๐๐ฅณ Talented VET students from St Pauls Catholic College, Greystanes, Parramatta Marist High School, Santa Sophia Catholic College, CathWest Innovation College and Marian Catholic College Kenthurst competed against students from public schools and those from other Dioceses in skills challenges for Commercial Cookery, Food and Beverage and Construction. Cookery students made challenging choux pastry desserts๐ฎ๐ก and a main meal๐, Food and Beverage students created mocktails๐น and coffeesโ, while construction students faced the tricky task of using detailed plans to make saw horses๐ช๐จ. โ Sharing faith: students make rosary beads for their younger peers. ๐ฟ To mark the Month of the Holy Rosary this October, Years 5 and 6 students from the Faith in Action Team at St John XXIII Catholic College Stanhope Gardens have been crafting beautiful pocket rosaries for their Year 3 schoolmates. ๐These rosaries will be a meaningful gift as Year 3 prepares to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
